The perpetrator of the recent attack on Westminster Bridge, London, in which four people died, used WhatsApp, which encrypts messages it passes, shortly before his attack began. Intelligence services are now pushing for communication tech companies, including WhatsApp, Apple's iMessage, Signal and Threema, which use encryption for communication to be accessible to combat terrorism.
