Fire at important Russian library

One of Russia's largest university libraries, the Institute of Scientific Information on Social Sciences (Inion) in Moscow,  suffered terrible fire damage over the weekend. It had documents dating from the 16th  century. The fire damage has been declared "a major loss for science. This is the largest collection of its kind in the world, probably equivalent to the [US] Library of Congress." About 15% of the collection is estimated to be damaged by fire and/or water. 2,000 square meters of the building was in flames and part of the roof collapsed. Read more about it here
