First printed book in English sells at auction for 1 million pounds

The book was published in 1474 by William Caxton who was an English printing pioneer. The book is his translation of a French book, Recuyell of the Histories of Troye, published circa 1463. The story portrays Greek mythological heroes as chivalric figures. At the time most books were published in Latin in Belgium and there were few who could afford them. Read more about it here
